TASTING
Las Mishas is a superb Peruvian coffee with a taste profile slightly more audacious than what we usually offer for this beloved terroir by Nektar. At first, you can taste the cherry, a lot of cherry, dark and ripe (almost maraschino-like). Then, the cherry taste continues to mature and transforms into notes of sultana raisins. The finish is sweet, chocolaty, slightly malty and reminds us of the "Maltesers" of our childhood. This Peruvian coffee Las Mishas is a true gem to be savored with wonderment.
ORIGIN
This community blend is grown by 37 organically certified small holders living in the small communities of Bomboca and Vista Alegre in the district of Colasay. Colasay is one of the few areas of Northern Peru that stayed away from the influence of the large coops, and kept growing traditional varieties over the years. Origin Coffee Lab has a collection point there and offers many processing workshops. The feedback loop is very efficient and they have seen improvements in both quality and yield. The coffees chosen for this lot spent a short amount of time fermenting in cherry before being pulped. They fit into a taste profile that we refer to as ‘Fruta Madura’ (Mature fruit) which shows dark fruit tones and a lot of sweetness. The lots were first evaluated separately at the collection point before being approved to be part of this high quality blend.
DRINKING
Perfect for filter brewing (Chemex, pour-over, drip, Bodum) for a mainly fruity and sweet flavor profile. It will also give excellent results in espresso for a spectacular "cherry blossom" effect!
