This is our second year offering a Demicha harvest! We had the opportunity to offer a washed harvest last year, which we absolutely loved. This year, we got our hands on a natural-processed harvest from the same farm, and it is truly just as lovely. Expect a very delicate coffee, with lots of subtle florals and a big presence of apricot or similar sweet stone fruit. The acidity and sweetness of this coffee reminds us greatly of homemade marmalade, blending the citrus and the sugar perfectly to create a very creamy experience.
The Uraga region of Guji, Ethiopia is home to lush forests and dense mountain ranges that reach heights up to 2300 masl. This terrain is a large reason why harvests from this region are some of the most sought-after coffees in the industry. The impressive altitudes promote the development of bright, acidic and fruity qualities, as well as the trademark piquant florals so typical of Ethiopia harvests.
This Demicha harvest was processed at the Welichu Wachu Washing Station in Muda Tatesa, Ethiopia. The mill is owned by Dagne Chomen, a local coffee fanatic who has been deeply implicated in the specialty coffee industry in a multitude of ways for years. His career in coffee began working for local exporters and cooperatives, until recently, when he opened his very own coffee processing station. Dagne is a skilled coffee taster and his awareness of the territory makes him highly adept at locating amazing opportunities in Uraga.
This particular harvest was sorted after having been meticulously hand picked, allowing for the smallest defect ratio. The cherries were then thoroughly washed and left to sundry on raised beds.
Will be absolutely lovely in espresso, with or without milk. You will be greeted with a very creamy espresso shot, and lots of complex and sweet fruit aromas. As a filter brew, it will be a much more delicate experience, with typical Ethiopia florals taking the reins of the cup.
